Very Helpful Advice

I highly recommend this very helpful book by a brilliant author who “walks his talk.” John Gray helps us smoothly navigate the changing masculine and feminine roles today. I’ve been happily married to my soul mate for over 35 years, and both my husband and I found his advice reflected our own experience in many ways. I especially appreciated his understanding of how men and women have both male and female sides, and also his scientific information about male and female hormones and their impact on our stress levels and happiness. It was intriguing to learn, for example, that men become more aggressive, not when they have too much testosterone, but when they have too much estrogen. I also appreciated reading that the number one problem in relationships is a man’s tendency to express his anger through arguing with his partner. Peace needs to begin at home.

I really enjoyed reading Beyond Mars and Venus. The most important thing that I learned in this book is I should not talk about my feelings right away when I am angry or stressed out at someone. I should strive to detach and do an activity that rebuilds my testosterone to calm down. This is a hormone that I can build up by exercising. I started performing in theater six years ago. Memorizing my lines and learning how to move on stage are very difficult things to do, but I learned that learning to do hard things can also boost my testosterone level. I have learned to cooperate and work with many other people in theater. I have learned to depend and cooperate with many others to make our play successful. Cooperation and interdependence are two aspects that can promote my estrogen level. I never thought of the feminine qualities that I have developed doing theater. Being able to express both my masculine and feminine qualities equally is the key to having a loving and successful relationship with a woman.
I also learned that silently listening to a woman is an a skill that can build up my testosterone. Silently listening to a woman can help me respond to her more intelligently. I won't say something dumb when I listen silently. I I also learned that actions and not words are more important when a woman is stressed out. I should just give a woman a hug when she is angry or stressed with me. Giving a woman a hug will increase the female hormone oxytocin. This will calm her down. I love the information in this book. Learning about how the male and female hormones work will help my romantic relationship to develop and blossom. It will also help me to become a more effective theater performer.

Much repetition and rambling. I have read about hormones and I don't agree with all that is said. Progesterone lowers at menopause. I love John Gray. I think this book could be 1/3 the size and still say the same thing, but it was interesting, but very wordy. I read almost all of John Gray books. I am glad he is into nutrition/Alternative medicine which is awesome. I agree a man needs to be sensitive when a women has her monthly cycle. Sometimes she wants to be along and may feel sick at her period time and sometime it is right for romance/sex. PMS may happen and period issues due to gluten which may cause intestines to not absorb nutrients well and may lower the thyroid. I am not sure how a man/women can change their hormones by their life. I know a hug heals and people need 4 hugs a day. Many people may get no hugs a day or validations. A strong masculine guy may bring out the feminine in women. A masculine women may not be able to change fast to a feminine one after work. Our society maybe estrogen dominant so men maybe more feminine due to meat/dairy/soy/BPA/fat etc. raising estrogen.Many people are confused about their gender due to food/environment affecting them. Getting our society back on track and not just assuming there is nothing that can be done is not good. Fix the diet/food and people may have a traditional family again and genders. No gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO/food with a label...taking vitamins/good oils/minerals...probiotic..LDN..detoxing may help. It was an ok book, but some people may be confused by all the hormone talk.
