About the Author
LAKITA GARTH is a social commentator, media consultant and professional entertainer in Los Angeles. She has also testified before the U.S. Surgeon General and the U.S. Senate on teen pregnancy prevention, and serves on the executive board of The National Abstinence Clearinghouse. A great resource to use for teenagers/young adults

I wish I had this information when I was a teenager. Lakita Garth, tells it like it is and she captivates you while she does it. I loved the story about the lie dressing up in truth's clothes and how she breaks it down. This is a great resource to use in youth ministry. With all of the challenges our kids face today, we need to engage them in straight talk that they can relate to with real answers (not the worlds way of doing things). I am a big fan of Ms. Garth, she is a shining example of what can happen when you do it God's way. Thank you Ms. Garth!

So Great, Not Just for Teens ...

I'm a volunteer youth leader and I have to say, this is by far one of the best resources that I have seen for Christian teens today. First of all, there is a DVD and Leader guide that also goes along with this same study. I highly suggest looking into those resources also. Lakita Garth is absolutely hilarious. She is funny and very down to earth. She saved herself for marriage, but never comes off as condemning or self-righteous. The Naked Truth isn't just about not having sex because God says so (even though that is a good enough reason!). Lakita takes it a step further and starts unveiling the lies that have swept through our society about sex. Lakita honestly talks about STDs and the emotional effects of having sex. She also talks about conviction of belief, knowing your worth and value, finding your purpose in life, and many other things. The co-youth leader and I sat and watched the DVD that comes with the book and we found ourselves absolutely touched, encouraged, and healed by some of the things we ended up discussing as a result of the book and the DVD. This isn't just for teens. It was so good, after we worked with the youth we thought about doing it for our Wednesday night Bible study with the adults! While the subject matter never gets to be too much, I would recommend it for 13 and up. So good, don't pass it up!
