Scott Sonnon overcame dyslexia so severe that he was hospitalized in a children's psychiatric institution for his "disruptive classroom behavior." Despite being advised that he should not set his expectations very high, he went on to become a five-time world martial arts champion, award-winning producer, prolific author, patent-holding inventor and fitness industry magnate with his books, DVDs and equipment now available in 68 countries worldwide. Ironically, Scott became a keynote speaker for the genius organization Mensa, and his acclaimed TEDx talk challenges the notion of "learning disabilities" through the creative genius of alternative learning styles. Using his "unique neurological wiring" to create innovative health programs, he was named one of the Top 25 Trainers in the world by Men's Fitness Magazine, "World's Smartest Workout" creator by Men's Health Magazine, and one of the seven most influential martial art teachers of the 21st century by Black Belt Magazine. Scott was named an adjunct instructor for the U.S. Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, and lecturer for the State and Local Law Enforcement Training Symposium. His training systems have been used by more than 50,000 federal agents through the US Customs and Border Protection Advanced Training Center and the US Marshals Service Academy. Scott has been a featured speaker at the Arnold Schwarzenegger Sports Festival, the National Strength Conditioning Association and many more. Scott has now taken his success in martial art, fitness and yoga off the mats and into the classrooms, as an international speaker. He advocates for children and adults battling the labels of learning difficulties, the ravages of obesity, the trials of post-traumatic stress, the dangers of bullyism and the challenges of accelerated aging in joint and soft tissue.

Well Written Autobiography in a Novel Format.

I have become friends with Scott Sonnon over the last fours years that he has written this book. His writing has improved dramatically in that time through this daily ritual of writing about his past, examining through the lens of the great philosophers and searching for the lessons and self-improvement in his current days. As I read his daily postings on Facebook that were the genesis of this book, I slowly adopted a similar mindset of examining my own life through this lens of re-framing life's circumstances into "this is exactly what I need to adapt and improve". It proves to be a very successful formula, even just reading Scott's stories written in this manner, let alone copying the formula by writing your own story in this manner. The key lesson in Scott's story is that you do not need to escape your past, but to re-cast it as the crucible for your current transformation and that we all have inherent worth and genius that just needs to be released from our fears and doubts. The short stories are inspiring, heartbreaking, and humorous at times. If you like stories of the underdog starting in last place who becomes a champion, wins the girl, and lives happily ever after, get this book. It only takes Scott several decades to get there, but you can read about in the remaining days of this summer! I started following Scott Sonnon in 2010 on my way to a year combat tour in Afghanistan. His coaching, his writing, and his TACFIT fitness program transformed me from a bitter, out of shape middle aged Army officer into a much better and healthier version of myself. Even if you are not struggling with dyslexia or life's adversities, this is still a good book for expanding your view of those people you know who may be. I know that as a parent of four boys, these stories and the lessons embedded within, have helped me be more present and intentional as a father. I highly recommend this book and have thoroughly enjoyed the short story format.

I have the honor and luck to know Scott personally, we been teaching around the globe in team and every single time my brain was amaze by this man speech ! For lots of us listen to him, watching his video and assist to his success is simple and seam unreal that this athlete , fighter and unique human been ash been trough all this obstacles in his life. This book will take you in to his world and if you are open enough , to the world of many out there...take this step it will enlighten your life and soul and you will be able to see disability turn in to POSSIBILITY!! Thanks my mentor and brother to let us see trough your eyes !
