Dr. Dean Richards is a professor of psychology and author of two other books, "Psychology in Plain English" and "More Psychology in Plain English." �Originally a native of Iowa, he grew up on a family dairy farm bordering the Iowa River. �Finding himself not enamored of cold, damp winters and hot, humid summers working outside among piles of manure, he opted for an academic life, attending the University of Iowa as an undergraduate, and the obtaining his Ph. D. in Psychology from Carnegie-Mellon University. He now lives with his lovely wife, Dr. Andrea Richards, in Southern California, where he bakes fresh challah every Friday.

About the Author
Dr. Dean Richards grew up on a dairy farm near Columbus Junction, Iowa. �Finding himself not fond of cold, damp winters and hot, humid summers working among piles of manure, he studied psychology at the University of Iowa and then got his Ph. D. in that subject from Carnegie-Mellon University. �Upon graduation he left cows behind forever and moved to Los Angeles. �After marrying his lovely wife, Dr. Andrea Richards, they raised three perfectly lovely children, one of whom is pursuing rabbinical studies and whose need for fresh challah each week inspired the production of this volume. �When he's not baking, Dr. Richards teaches psychology online and onsite for a number of universities. �In addiiton to this book of recipes, he is the author of two popular books in psychology written for professionals and nonprofessionals as well, Psychology in Plain English and More Psychology in Plain English. �Both this volume and the two of them are avaialbe in paperback and for Kindle and Kindle Reader Apps on Amazon.com. �Dean enjoys hearing from readers and appreciates online reviews. �If you'd like to contact him, you can do so at the address below:

Get Ready To Bake!

Please don't skip over this book because of the title; this is a wonderful book about making challah. The recipes start with the classics and then move to the more innovative. I've never read about the concept of "tunnels of filling" which are an easy and innovative way to make challahs move flavorful and even more special. You won't regret the purchase.

Masterpiece

Once again Sue Ann thrills with Emma and Granny. The whole family plays more of a part in this story, which I liked. The adventure Emma and Granny go on actually was almost in my backyard. What's in the future for Emma and Phil? Sue Ann leaves you wanting more, and more soon! LOL This is a wonderful read, I didn't want to put it down once I started. It's another favorite!

Emma and Granny Face Dangers of Flesh and Ghost

Emma is surprised to get a lunch invitation from Joanna Reid. The two had never been close and hadn't spoken since her husband died a few years before. Joanna is convinced that her late husband, Max, is haunting her and wants Emma to make him go away.

A few hours later, Emma learns that Joanna's daughter Lainey is in a mental health facility after three attempts to commit suicide. Lainey and Emma's own daughter are good friends, so Emma pays the young woman a visit. After the talk, Emma thinks that a ghost might be involved in Lainey's attempts on her own life. But is it Max or someone else? Can Emma figure out the cause in time to keep Lainey safe?

I've enjoyed the previous two books in this series, and this was the strongest yet. The characters, both living and ghostly, are vivid and pull you into the story. There were times some of the characters were doing some stupid things, but even then I usually felt sorry for them.

The plot moves forward on two levels involving the present and the past. Both mysteries are compelling, although I usually found myself more involved in the modern mystery. Yet the historic mystery packed a real emotional punch in the end.

There was a sub-plot I didn't like because Emma was being stupid and complicating her life. I'll be looking forward to seeing how that gets resolved in future books.

This is a compelling read with great characters that will keep you turning pages until you reach the end.

I have read all of the books written by this author, Sue Ann Jaffarian. I have enjoyed each and every one of them. The Granny Apples series gets better with each and every new book. You need to read all of her series. She has three, The Odelia Grey series, The Madison Rose series and of course Granny Apples. This author has a way of not only letting you enjoy the current book; but at the same time you want the next one to appear magically so you can continue to follow the lives of the characters.

Why is it important to read this book

Doug Woodward brings a whole fresh way to look at what is a complex emotional topic. Both his books have a unique un-judgmental way of unravelling the manifold views on this topic. He gives clear options for the reader to decide on what he or she feels is right, without bias. Doug's own opinion is quite clear but he allows us readers to understand why other opinions have developed. I recommend this book ++++ for all who want to understand the times we live in.

S. Douglas Woodward presents, in a very readable format, compelling information that makes consideration of an approaching 'day of reckoning' a very real probability.
A well written book that is well worth reading.
